flusurvey.org.uk - Internet based monitoring system for Influenza Surveillance
UK Flu Surveillance
Since July 2009, the UK flusurvey has provided all the latest swine flu news to members of the public, and has collected valuable information from participants to help plan the swine flu response. Now that the pandemic has faded away, from April 2010 the web-page will no longer be regularly updated. The flusurvey team would like to thank everyone who has taken part. We'll be relaunching the web site to keep track of seasonal flu in Autumn 2010.

UK Flu Survey

The figure below shows the latest reports from the UK flu survey of flu-like illness and other respiratory illness (some of which may be flu). Cases have tended to follow patterns of school terms, but since peaking in early November are now at a very low level.

The locations of recent participants in the UK Flu survey are shown in the map below - click on the image to view an interactive map.

Those with symptoms consistent with influenza are shown in red, those with respiratory symptoms (probably not flu) are shown in blue, and those without respiratory symptoms are shown in green.

Because users only record the first half of their postcode, the points on the map do not indicate user's households.

The UK flu survey has been developed in collaboration with researchers from around Europe as part of the Epiwork project.
